Uniquely Intimate Portraits of Life

Thomas Haney is an internationally awarded photographer who’s images have been displayed multiple times in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington D.C., and in the U.K. Natural History Museum in London. The winner of over 20 international awards, his experience and interest range from weddings and portraiture to nature and wildlife. He lives near Cape Charles on Virginia’s Eastern Shore with his wife Erin, and two children, Samuel and Josephine.

My photographic style is rooted in my early years as a nature photographer where the goal is not so much to create, but to capture. There's no posing a landscape or a wild animal to suit your preference, so the photographer must use their experience and ability to frame the moment in the best possible way.

Because of this influence, and regardless of the subject, my goal is to capture moments of natural joy and beauty as they unfold. I love photography because time rolls on unstoppably into the future, the world changes and memories fade, but through images we can remember special moments in our lives long after those moments have passed.

"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence. " Ansel Adams
